The Sacred Hearts Catholic Church Parish School of Religion (PSR) Program utilizes the Word of Life curriculum created by The Augustine Institute and Ignatius Press.

Word of Life is a comprehensive, multifaceted Kindergarten through 8th Grade Curriculum that calls children, parents, teachers, and catechists to conversion and transformation in Christ.

Word of Life catechizes both the head and the heart. Rather than teaching the faith as information, so students forget it, the curriculum teaches the faith as the answer to their deepest longings, so students treasure it.

The curriculum is an Augustinian Model centered in Scripture, where students learn from beautiful, intellectually rigorous textbooks, and provides supplemental resources for students to bring home to share with their parents.

The goals of the Word of Life Curriculum are for students (and parents) to learn:

- Salvation History so they know their place in God’s divine plan.

- Christian Anthropology so they find their true identity in Christ.

- Heroic Virtue so they build good habits with the help of God’s grace.

- Discipleship so they understand why being Catholic really matters.

Together with The Augustine Institute curriculum and other resources, we pray we are able to shape the hearts of students and their parents with Word of Life in order to see parents involved in Faith Formation, students reading and loving Scripture, and a stronger Catholic identify in our parish community.
